Your photo is resized in your browser, then analyzed over an encrypted connection by the same AI engine the app uses. It is processed in memory, never stored, and never used for anything else. If the AI service is unreachable, the analysis runs entirely in your browser instead.

How the tool works

  1. Lighting correction. It estimates the light your photo was taken in and neutralizes it, because a warm bulb makes everyone read warm. If the correction had to work hard, you are told the result is shakier.
  2. Skin selection. It finds skin-colored pixels near the center of the frame and trims out shine and shadow. If it cannot find enough skin, it says so rather than guessing.
  3. Measurement. Those pixels are converted to the CIELAB color space. Depth comes from the lightness axis, undertone from the hue angle, and contrast from how far your skin sits from your hair.
  4. Season. Undertone separates the cool seasons from the warm ones; depth and contrast separate Winter from Summer and Autumn from Spring. These measurements rank your closest seasons.
  5. The AI check. A resized copy of the photo goes over an encrypted connection to the same AI engine the app uses, which names your closest season with a confidence score. It is processed in memory and never stored. If the service is unreachable, the browser engine answers alone.

What happens to my photo?

Your browser resizes it, then sends it over an encrypted connection to our analysis service - a Cloudflare Worker that passes it to Google's Gemini AI, the same engine the Tone & Fit app uses. It is processed in memory, never written to storage by us, and never used for anything except your analysis. A local engine also measures the photo in your browser, and if the AI service is unreachable your result comes from that local engine alone.

What kind of photo works best?

Daylight, facing a window, with no direct sun on your face. Little or no makeup, hair pulled back so your skin shows, and a plain background. Warm indoor bulbs are the single biggest cause of a wrong reading: they push everything golden and make cool skin look warm. The tool corrects for lighting as far as it can and tells you when it could not.

How do I know if I am warm or cool toned?

Warm undertones lean golden, peach or yellow; cool undertones lean pink, red or blue; neutral sits between. This tool measures it directly: it converts your skin pixels to the CIELAB color space and reads the hue angle, which is the same quantity color scientists use. How is this different from the Tone & Fit app?

The season call comes from the same AI engine, so the web result is a genuine preview. What the web tool does not do is the rest: the app builds your full profile - depth, contrast and chroma, 40+ named colors, colors to avoid, lip and blush shades, hair colors, color draping across all 12 seasons on your own photo, and an AI stylist. Neither engine comes with an accuracy percentage, because professional analysts routinely disagree on sub-season; the app scores its own confidence instead.

What if the result does not feel right?

Treat it as an estimate from one photo, because that is what it is. Lighting changes the answer, which is why the tool flags low confidence instead of guessing. Try again in daylight, use the refine step to add your natural hair and eye color, and read the season page it points you to.
